about

These songwriting challenges were part of an open mic Heather and her bandmate, Rob Hinkal, ran at a coffeeshop down the street from Franklin High School, where Heather substituted (and graduated from). Her former students make two appearances on "Samples:" The cover artwork was designed by Murray Gudesblat after she was wowed by his senior art show, and this remix was done by Murray's friend and We're Going to Hell For This bandmate, Artem Bank. A decade later, Murray is an artist and lead web developer in Philadelphia. Artem is teaching sound engineering at a Maryland college and making even cooler music, including frequent remixes of ilyAIMY and Heather tunes (you can find two albums' worth of those here on his bandcamp site). His remix of "Revolutions Per Minute," an open mic challenge song that appears on ilyAIMY's "Another Life/Another Live," is a showstopper.

Heather Aubrey Lloyd Baltimore, Maryland

Recovering reporter turned songwriter, Heather Aubrey Lloyd also co-fronts Baltimore’s ilyAIMY. Her 2017 solo release, “A Message in the Mess,” spotlights Lloyd’s emotive alto and a polished departure from her band’s alt-folk grit. Awards from the likes of No Depression Magazine, Telluride Troubadour, National Women’s Music Fest, etc. soon followed. Lloyd will release new music in late 2020. ... more
